GWG seeks to enhance our community by supporting projects that protect and preserve natural areas and resources, that improve outdoor recreational opportunities and parks, and that teach conservation, protection and the responsible use of natural resources.

Friends of the Reedy River

Year Granted:

Grant Amount: $40,000

Used to build the infrastructure needed to carry out its mission of protecting the Reedy River by hiring a part-time staff person and upgrading its website.

TreesGreenville

Year Granted:

Grant Amount: $40,000

Used to plant 250 legacy trees (trees that live for at least 100 years) in parks, schools and neighborhoods throughout Greenville County to promote and protect a healthy, long-term urban and community forest.

The Generous Garden

Grant Amount: $52,882

To establish an Aquaponics Greenhouse System in order to increase the organization's donations to local food banks, shelters and non-profits by 100% by extending the growing season and diversifying production of fruits and vegetables.

Naturaland Trust

Year Granted:

Grant Amount: $13,962

GWG funds will assist in Naturaland Trust's efforts to protect a 136 acre portion of the Blue Wall Connection, the valley at the base of Caesars Head Mountain that contains Scenic Highway 11, and the South Saluda River.

Conestee Foundation

Year Granted:

Grant Amount: $29,453

GWG will fund a one-mile portion of the Phase II Trail System, coupled with either a footbridge across the Reedy River linking this system with the Phase I Trails, or an observation deck with educational kiosks on the shore of the east bay of Lake Conestee.
