Greenville Women Giving's first $100,000 grant will be used to improve early grade reading proficiency in 8 elementary schools in Greenville County by strengthening reading strategies and improving the reading abilities of all students.

To increase the number of fresh, prepared from scratch meals served to at-risk children in Greenville County through the Feeding Hungry Children Project, and at the same time enable students from Project Host's CC Pearce Culinary School to gain the skills needed to work in professional kitchens.

Pendleton Place, Inc.

Grant Amount: $79,367

For supporting 2 years of the rigorous pursuit of accreditation from the Council of Accreditation, the national accrediting body established by the Child Welfare League of America for behavioral, healthcare and human services organizations. Once accredited, Pendleton Place will be eligible to apply for funding available only to accredited agencies.

Meals on Wheels of Greenville

For upgrading of the organization's commercial kitchen with a chill blaster and a steamer that will allow for the preparation of nutritious, good quality, safe meals more efficiently and economically.

The Generous Garden

To establish an Aquaponics Greenhouse System in order to increase the organization's donations to local food banks, shelters and non-profits by 100% by extending the growing season and diversifying production of fruits and vegetables.

Diligent Hands, Gracious Hearts

For the purchase of two Isuzu work trucks that will replace two crew cab trucks currently on their last legs, and enable the organization to provide services to 250 regularly served elderly or handicapped clients and many more one-time clients.

Camperdown Academy

Year Granted:

Grant Amount: $36,813

To contribute to Title I teacher training for students most at risk of failing school. Teachers from Monaview Elementary and Hollis Academy will be provided with the training necessary to use Orton-Gilligham techniques in their classrooms to improve reading scores of children from kindergarten through 5th grade.

A Child’s Haven

For the training and certification of staff to implement the nationally acclaimed, evidence-based Family Check-up Home Visitation Model, focused on breaking the cycle of abuse and neglect of children.
